Ford Fusion
It’s not a real shocker that the 2013 Ford Fusion won the “Green Car of The Year” award at the 2012 LA Auto Show. According to automaker Ford, the Fusion with the hybrid engine is capable of reaching 100 miles per gallon, which beats its competitor the Prius. Like many other automakers, Ford is allocating a great deal of their time and resources towards cleaner alternatives, and the 2013 Fusion is one of their latest accomplishments.

While it’s arguably a good thing that automakers are taking steps towards creating more energy-efficient vehicles, you might be surprised to hear that some states are forcing them to do this. California, which happens to be where the LA Auto Show is held, is one state that’s making the top auto manufacturers produce cleaner-burning vehicles.

About The 2013 Ford Fusion

One of the most attractive features of the 2013 Ford Fusion is the various engine models there are to choose from. Instead of being limited to a single stock engine, consumers are given the option to choose from one of five different engines, all of which have some unique characteristics and features. Ford has announced their 2013 Fusion available with 3 different fuel engines and 2 different fuel/electric hybrid engines. The lower-end hybrid engine will get roughly 47 miles per gallon, while the high-end engine will get 100 miles per gallon. As you can see, that’s a huge jump that’s certain to encourage some consumers to go green on their next vehicle purchase.

The LA Auto Show gives away several different awards to automakers each year, one of which is the “Green Car of The Year” award. Last year, it was the Honda Civic Natural Gas that received this award, but this time around Ford’s 2013 Fusion ran away with the title. Of course it’s hard to deny Ford’s innovate approach to hybrid technology. Instead of creating some ugly car hybrid with no real horsepower, they hit the mark with the 2013 Fusion.

How Much Does It Cost?

When the 2013 Ford Fusion goes on sale, it will start at an arguably low price of $21,700. However, you have to remember that this for the low-end model, which isn’t going to offer you the full 100 miles per gallon. Ford hasn’t announced the price of the higher-end models, but you can bet it’s going to be more than 22k. In any case, both of the hybrids models are smart investments that will pay as a result of not filling your tank up as often.
