The annual L.A. Auto Show draws nearly a million visitors each year, and this year was no exception. People flocked from all over the world to come and see what new models and improvements car manufacturers were busy making. Although there were numerous new models that were showcased on stage, one of the most talked about was Ford’s 2014 Fiesta line. These cars combined both power and fuel efficiency, which is essentially what the LA Auto Show is all about.

Many people are surprised to learn that the Ford Fiesta was first produced back in 1976. This first generation was made and sold in Europe where it became a mid-size sedan choice. It wasn’t until 2010 when the Ford Fiesta was finally released to the U.S. and Canada where it garnered a newfound popularity and following by consumers. According to reports, Ford has sold over 12 million Fiesta units since the launch of their first generation model in 1976.

Ford unveiled a couple different 2014 Ford Fiesta models at the L.A. Auto Show, such as a ST edition and fuel economy EcoBoost model. The ST edition is designed with power and performance in mind, as it features a beefed-up version of their 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine with 6-speed manual transmission. When it’s going all out, you can expect to get about 197 horsepower with an impressive 34 miles to the gallon.

The Ford Fiesta EcoBoost model also turned some heads this year at the L.A. Auto Show. Benchmarks are still early, but Ford claims the EcoBoost model is capable of getting well over 40 miles to the gallon. Best of all, it runs completely on fuel and not electricity, so there’s no need to worry about plugging it up each time you want to hit the road.

Along with their impressive under-the-hood specs, some Fiesta models in Ford’s lineup will offer the new MyFord Touch System, which is a voice controlled system with built-in navigation programs. Unlike some of the smaller touchscreens, the MyFord Touch System will have a whopping 6.5-inch display, making it a breeze to make changes and adjust the settings as you see fit.
