Held annually in Detroit, Michigan, the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) is one of the largest car shows and conventions in the country. Since the first one was held over a century ago, it’s garnered a cult-like following amongst auto professionals, car junkies and just everyday people who are looking for a fun-filled activity to spend some of their free time. Here we’ll take a closer look at the NAIAS and reveal what’s in store for the 2013 show.
If you live in or around the Detroit area, you should consider getting a ticket to this landmark event. Even if you aren’t an auto professional, chances are you’ll still get a kick out of all the inventive new concept cars on unveiled. Each year, the NAIAS shows some new cars, trucks and automobiles from the world’s leading manufacturers, and this year is no exception.

When and Where Is It?

The upcoming NAIAS will be held in Detroit, Michigan at the Cobo Center from January 14 to 27. However, it’s important to note that some of these dates have restrictions on who can attend. The first few days is a press only event, followed by an industry preview, charity preview, and then the public is allowed to enter from the 19th to the 27th.

One of the great things about seeing the NAIAS Detroit Auto Show is the inexpensive cost of tickets. Unlike other shows that charge you $30 or more bucks for a single ticket, the NAIAS is only $12 for adults and $6 for kids. That’s a great deal considering how large and comprehensive this show is. You can purchase tickets directly from their website, or you can buy them at the gate (cash only).

Things To Remember When Attending The NAIAS

While the exact number of vehicles scheduled for display at the 2013 NAIAS is unknown, promoters believe there will be around 500. You’ll see new hybrid and electric cars that are trying to break their way into the automotive market, as well as muscle cars with a fresh look. In fact, many people and industry professionals are eagerly anticipating the new Cadillac ELR, which is a two-door coupe, fully-electric car that’s supposed to be surprisingly energy-efficient.

As you can expect, parking and even driving around the Cobb Center in Detroit, Michigan at the time of the NAIAS Auto Show can become a nightmare to say the least. Instead of battling your way through bumper-to-bumper traffic, you should consider taking the train as an alternate means of transportation.
