2012 Woodward Dream Cruise
Detroit, Michigan is gearing up for one of the largest car shows in the state, the annual Woodward Dream Cruise. With over 50,000 hot rods, street cars and custom vehicles, you can bet the turnout is going to be enormous. In fact, some people are predicting that over a million people will attend the single-day event. To learn more about the Woodward Dream Cruise and how you can attend, keep reading.

Where and When is The 2012 Woodward Dream Cruise?

The 2012 Woodward Dream Cruise will be held this Saturday, August 18th, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at none other than Woodward avenue. Because there will be so many cars and people attending, the show will stretch roughly 16 miles through a variety of communities.

Ticket Cost

Unlike other car shows that cost an arm and a leg to attend, the Woodward Dream Cruise is completely free. You can pack up the family and head out for a day of fun-filled activities and amazing cars. As always, the Woodward Dream Cruise is an alcohol-free event that’s tailored towards the family.

You might be surprised to hear that participating in the event is also free. There’s no registration or fee required to participate. Just hop in your car, get in line and start driving down the Woodward stretch.

Things To Remember When Attending

The Woodward Dream Cruise is considered to be the world’s largest single-day car show. For this reason, you can expect a hefty amount of traffic, both on the road and from pedestrians. Don’t expect to go for an hour and then be able to leave without sitting in traffic for a while. The congestion caused by this show will likely add an hour or two on to your itinerary.

Chevrolet, GM and Ford are two major sponsors of the show, so expect tons of their vehicles on display. In the past, they’ve unveiled some pretty amazing prototype cars at the Woodward Dream Cruise. If you see an area where they’re presenting, be sure to check it out. Who knows, you could be one of the first people to see a new type of future car in development.
